Biography
Let me introduce myself to you. My name is BEATTY COHAN. I am a nationally recognized psychotherapist, author, speaker, newspaper columnist and national radio and television personality. I have a Masters' degree in Clinical Social Work from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, post-graduate specialization in marital and family therapy and sexual dysfunction and over 35 years of clinical experience. I currently have a full-time private practice in Sarasota, Florida and am licensed in the State of Florida. I treat adolescents, individuals, couples and families of all ages and stages in life. I enjoy working with Inner City delinquent youth a well as with CEO's of national public companies. I am as comfortable talking about depression as I am about erections.
I have been in the national television scene since the late
80's. I am currently a regular expert guest on Nancy Grace,
Court TV and Daytime, a syndicated NBC television show which airs in
several southern states. I have hosted my own call-in television show,
and was the resident on-air psychotherapist for 2 years at WLNE, the ABC
affiliate in Providence, Rhode Island, WJAR, the NBC affiliate in
Providence, FOX in Boston, WFTS, the ABC affiliate in Tampa for 3 years
and the ABC affiliate in Sarasota. In 2007 I did an ASK BEATTY Special
on WEDU, the PBS station in Tampa and will be doing another Special in
2008. I danced on-air with the former President of the NAACP who hosted
a show on WBAL in Baltimore when I was promoting my book, recently
appeared on FOX NEWS, where I discussed celebrity marriages and have
counseled troubled individuals on-air on several national television
talk shows.
My greatest achievement however, is having a wonderful and loving relationship with my husband Elliot and with my 24 year-old daughter Jordana, who is a professional photographer living in Brooklyn, New York.
